Welcome to the FireBREAK Campaign
A wildfire preparedness & public awareness campaign based in Moab, Utah
What is FireBREAK?
FireBREAK is the wildfire preparedness & public awareness campaign located in Moab, Utah and anchored by Moab’s major fire fuels mitigation project, the Community Wildfire Defense Grant.
In plain language, FireBREAK is an effort to reduce the risk of a catastrophic fire in the Moab Valley and empower residents to make their properties more resilient to wildfire. “BREAK” stands for: Build Resilience, Ready Property, Engage Community, Act Together, and Know How.
Undergirding FireBREAK, the Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) is a five-year, $5.2 million award that focuses on reducing fire fuels along Moab’s Mill and Pack creek corridors and the Matheson Wetlands. The project is helmed by the nonprofit Rim to Rim Restoration and the Moab Valley Fire Department, which together coordinate a coalition of state, local, and federal partners.
